Transitioning to a Vegan Lifestyle 1.0

Transitioning to a Vegan Lifestyle 1.0

This post is for those who are contemplating the vegan lifestyle or have made the jump into what you sense would bring about a higher quality of life and health for you and your body.  But as you contemplate or leap, you may be asking yourself, "What are a few things for me to consider about this lifestyle?"  I'll get started by sharing three.

1.  Be gentle with yourself

When you step into this lifestyle, recognize that you've been eating non-vegan more than you've been eating vegan.  Your body may still crave meat, milk, cheese, salt and processed food and sugar.  Don't beat yourself up if you slip up, still struggle with cravings, and don't always know what to eat.  You didn't make a mistake, you just need to know that this is NORMAL.  Your body is full of toxins.  But the cleaner you get, the less the cravings will seemingly appear in control.  Be gentle with yourself.  It's a process.

2.  Detox, Alkalize and Regenerate

One of the benefits of a high fruit and vegetable vegan lifestyle is that your body will naturally go through a cleansing detox without you having to buy a detox formula in the Health Food Store.  Headaches, body aches, mucus, lethargy, skin irritations, and stomach issues are all part of the early journey.  Your body is trying to cleanse itself as you eat more healthy.  If you feel bad in the beginning know that eating vegan isn't the problem, your body is getting rid of all the junk that's stored in your cells and tissues.

Keep in mind, that as you eat vegan, fruit cleanses your system faster than vegetables but both work powerfully to cleanse and heal you.  As you detox, your body will eventually move from being highly acid (under 6.5 on the Ph scale) to becoming more alkaline (slightly over 7.0 on the Ph scale).  Once your body becomes more alkaline and less acidic, your cells and tissues in your body will begin to regenerate itself.  In other words, healing will begin to take place.

3.  Drink plenty of pure water

As you transition into this lifestyle, water will become your beverage of choice.  Water will be critical to your detox and cleansing journey.  Water will push out all of the toxins from your body as you cleanse.  At this point, don't get too caught up in what type of water you drink but I'd encourage you to stay away from tap water (full of harmful chemicals including fluoride), Dasani and Aquafina (highly acidic when tested), and flavored water (typically has harmful chemicals and GMO substances).  On the other hand, consider spring water or alkaline water (from Whole Foods or even Trader Joes).  If you don't have access to fresh alkaline water (8.5-9.5 Ph), consider purchasing whatever brand of water that you enjoy.  Try to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces.

I hope this information was helpful to you as you transition into what I believe the best lifestyle on the planet.  I'll share more "things to know" soon but if you have questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Comment, share, and enjoy.
