Simplicity is the key to cooking. I believe that the reason why so many people are intimidated by cooking or chef’n is because too many cookbooks make it so complicated.
Who said that we need thirty ingredients to make a meal?
Who said that we have to have four items on the plate in every meal.
Why can’t we simplify the cooking process so that everyone is eating simple, easy-to-make meals. I’m a firm believer in ease of use. But I’m also a firm believer in one dish meals. Now understand that there’s a time for four and five items on the plate but in this busy life that we live, there’s a way to make healthy cooking easy and accessible to every home around the world.
Here’s a one dish meal that is worthy of emulating. Check it out!
1/4 to 1/2 head of green cabbage (you can add purple cabbage as well)
field roast sausage (Italian)
1/2 red onion
grape seed oil (for sautéing)
1/2 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 tbs of coconut aminos
himalayan sea salt
Heat up the grape seed oil in a medium sauce pan
Add the sausage, cut on a bias (angle in chunks)
Brown them on one side and then flip them on the other side
Add chopped red onions
Add sea salt and black pepper
Chop up the cabbage in shreds (do this in advance - thin as you can - this allows it to flavor through)
Use tongs to stir the onions and eventually distribute them
As it cooks down add the garlic powder and coconut aminos
Add basil to your liking
Once it’s at the consistency that you desire, serve
This is a really easy meal. Feel free to add a sweet or purple potato to it or anything else that you may desire.
