After doing a survey on IG, many people have expressed interest and are ready for a seven day smoothie challenge. Exciting!
I believe that a healthy lifestyle happens when healthy and enduring habits develop. Smoothies are a great entrance into and sustainer throughout a healthy lifestyle. Most people have a blender. Most people have fruit and vegetables that they like. Most people have a favorite liquid to add. That’s about it. This is the smoothie challenge. An outcome of this challenge is that we’d all get into the habit of having one per day.
How can I prepare for the challenge?
I’d say, head out to your grocery story and purchase several staples depending on what type of smoothies you may want to make.
Here’s a list of my favorites:
Bananas - I freeze these to give my smoothie a creamier texture. Make sure you get some in the freezer before Monday. ;)
Strawberries - You can purchase a huge bag at Costco or any other bulk wholesale store.
Pineapples - They add a nice flavor to most smoothies. Costco sells these as well.
Mango - Costco sells this as well.
Dates - They add natural sweetness to your smoothies. Costco sells these as well. Frankly, they sell everything ;)
Spinach and Kale - These greens are my staples. Anytime that I want a green smoothie, I add either or both of these.
Apples, pears, kiwi, or grapes - You can add whatever you want to your smoothie.
Coconut water or milk, almond milk (w/o a lot of additives), fresh orange juice, apple cider, or water - Since you’ll need a liquid, feel free to consider any of these.
Try to give yourself freedom to explore, experiment and try new combinations.
This recipe is my go to:
1 cup of unpasteurized apple cider
1/2 cup of fresh orange juice
5 dates (make sure you take out the seeds)
It’s so delicious!
Throughout the 7 days, I’ll be posting recipes everyday. Feel free to ask any questions on IG or leave a comment here. Tell your friends and family about the challenge and invite them to join.
